Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is an evidence-based talking therapy that helps you manage problems by changing the way you think and behave. Unlike other therapies, CBT focuses on current issues rather than dwelling on the past. It's particularly effective for anxiety, depression, OCD, phobias, and chronic pain. CBT is recommended by the NHS and has decades of research supporting its effectiveness.
Your first session is about getting to know each other and understanding your needs. We'll discuss what brought you to therapy, your current challenges, and your goals. I'll explain how CBT works and create a personalised treatment plan. There's no pressure - this is a safe space to share as much or as little as you're comfortable with. The first session typically lasts 50-60 minutes.
This varies depending on your individual needs and goals. Some people benefit from 6-8 sessions for specific issues, while others prefer longer-term support. We'll discuss this during your first session and regularly review progress together. CBT is typically a short-to-medium-term therapy, more focused than traditional counselling.
Sessions are £60 per hour. This includes the full consultation, personalised treatment plan, and any resources or materials needed for your therapy. Payment is taken at the time of booking or at the session. I believe quality therapy should be accessible, which is why my rates are competitive for the Fife area.
Yes! I work with most major private health insurance providers including Aviva, AXA, Cigna, and Healix. Please check with your insurance provider about your coverage for psychological therapy. If you're covered, we can arrange direct billing in most cases. For those without insurance, self-pay options are available.
I offer flexibility to suit your needs. Sessions are available in-person at our professional clinics in Glenrothes, Dunfermline, and Burntisland across Fife. I also offer secure online video sessions via a GDPR-compliant platform for those who prefer remote therapy or have mobility issues. Online sessions are just as effective as in-person.
I offer flexible appointment times to accommodate work and family commitments, including some evening slots. Sessions typically last 50-60 minutes. When you book, we'll find a time that works best for your schedule. Regular weekly or fortnightly appointments work best for most people.
Yes, absolutely. All sessions are completely confidential. What you share stays between us. I follow strict professional guidelines and GDPR regulations. Information is only shared with your explicit written consent, or in the rare circumstance where there's a serious risk of harm to you or others. Your privacy and trust are paramount.
I'm a Clinical Associate in Applied Psychology with NHS training and over 9 years of experience. I'm qualified in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and work within professional ethical guidelines. My background includes both NHS and private practice, giving me a wide range of experience with diverse clients and presenting issues.
I specialise in treating:

• Depression and low mood

• Chronic pain psychological management

• Stress management and burnout
CBT typically involves some work between sessions to help you practice new skills and thinking patterns in real-life situations. This might include thought records, behavioural experiments, or relaxation exercises. Don't worry - these are tailored to your lifestyle and we'll work together to make them manageable. The more you engage between sessions, the faster you'll see progress.
Life happens! Please give 24 hours notice if you need to cancel or reschedule. This allows me to offer the slot to someone else. Cancellations with less than 24 hours notice may be charged. You can reschedule by phone, text, or email. I understand emergencies occur and will be flexible where possible.
The first session is usually one-to-one to create a safe, confidential space. However, if you'd feel more comfortable bringing a support person initially, that's fine. For couples or family issues, we can arrange joint sessions. For under-18s, a parent or guardian typically attends part of the session. We'll discuss what works best for you.
I'm here to help. Get in touch and I'll answer any questions you have about therapy.
