A Bit About Me
Hi, I'm Fiona – Physiotherapist at Rae’s Anatomy Physiotherapy

I’ve wanted to be a physiotherapist for as long as I can remember. Helping people feel better, move more freely, and get back to doing what they love is what I’m all about.
I started out studying Physiology at Aberdeen University, where I earned a 2:1 degree, and then went on to complete my MSc in Rehabilitation Science at Glasgow Caledonian University. I qualified as a Chartered Society of Physiotherapy Physiotherapist in 2003 and now have over 22 years of clinical experience working across both the NHS and private sector. Since then, I’ve been lucky enough to work with a wide range of people—from those recovering from injury to those managing long-term conditions
Over the years, I’ve developed advanced assessment and treatment techniques, blending manual therapy, exercise rehabilitation, soft tissue work, movement re-education, gait re-education, Acupuncture and Pilates-based rehabilitation. In addition Fiona works Part time for NHS Fife in the Musculoskeletal Service where she has worked with a broad range of other professionals within the following services - Orthopaedics, Chronic Pain, Podiatry, Community Physiotherapy, Physiotherapy Pelvic Health, Rheumatology and Neurology services.
After the birth of her children, Fiona had a passion for ante and post-natal rehabilitation. Qualified as a Fitback and Bumps instructor in 2011 and then set up a private business Physiobumps - the Edinburgh Physiotherapy ante and post-natal educational exercise classes. Running mummy MOT sessions and getting mums back on track.

I’m passionate about Lifestyle Medicine and believe in treating the whole person—not just the symptoms. I use the Four Pillars of Health: relaxation, sleep, food, and movement to support long-term wellbeing. My approach is always centred around you. I focus on your strengths, listen carefully to your goals, and work with you to create a plan that helps you achieve them—whether that’s getting an assessment or getting you back to sport, staying active, or simply feeling more confident in your body.
I’m a huge fan of the outdoors! In my spare time, I love running (the London Marathon is my favourite!), paddleboarding, strength training, and exploring cold water therapy. More recently, I’ve been getting into yoga and sauna therapy—anything that keeps me moving and feeling good.

Work Experience
2008 – Present
2005 – 2008
2011 – 2015
2008 – 2009
With over 15 years’ experience in NHS Fife, I’ve led the Musculoskeletal Outpatient Department at Victoria Hospital, managing a diverse caseload of patients referred from GPs, Orthopaedics, and other specialists.
I’ve developed and led specialist services including the Emergency Department Acute MSK Clinic, MSK Escalation Clinic, and a Biomechanics Clinic in collaboration with Podiatry.
Before stepping into a leadership position, I gained valuable experience across NHS Fife’s MSK outpatient settings at Dalgety Bay, Queen Margaret, and Victoria Hospital.
I led a range of rehabilitation classes including Back to Fitness, Hydrotherapy, and Total Knee Replacement recovery programmes, while mentoring junior staff and physiotherapy students.
This period gave me a deep understanding of the patient journey from post-operative rehabilitation to long-term self-management.
Alongside my NHS role, I co-founded Physiobumps, an antenatal and postnatal physiotherapy service designed to support women through pregnancy and recovery.
I developed and delivered tailored educational workshops, group classes, and 1:1 physiotherapy sessions, including the popular “Mummy MOT” and “Core ‘n’ Floor” programmes.

Through Physiobumps, I built a strong community of women seeking expert, evidence-based advice in a supportive environment — combining clinical skill with a personal, approachable touch.
I spent time in a busy private clinic in central Edinburgh, where I specialised in delivering bespoke, results-driven rehabilitation for a broad range of musculoskeletal injuries. By combining expert hands-on treatment with clear, practical guidance, I helped clients recover faster, stay active, and build long-term confidence in their movement — many of whom continued to return and recommend the service to others.
